Faux Keum Boo Steel and Bronze Earrings by Cindy Pope

Artist, Instructor and Silhouette Curio expert, Cindy Pope started out with Precious Metal Clay Rio certification and metalsmithing classes and is one of Hadar Jacobson’s first Cadre of Base Metal Accredited teachers.

In this video, Cindy uses Hadar's One-Fire Flex Dark Champagne Bronze and One-Fire Flex Pearl Grey Steel, rolled out into sheet form. She cuts the steel sheet into her desired earring shape with scissors and a Cool Tools Template. Using Precision Hole Punches, she cuts out circle shapes in the bronze sheet and attaches these shapes to the earrings as embellishments. She discusses the different options to finishing the steel, according to your desired look.

For firing, these clays can be fired together. For muffle kilns, phase one: ramp at 1798°F to 1100°F, hold for 2 hours. Phase two: ramp at 1798°F to 1800°, hold for 2 hours. For brick kilns, phase two should be 1798°F to 1750°F.

The tools and supplies used in this video are listed below.
