The SC2 is digitally controlled, so you can set it and forget it. Use one of 4 customizable heat, hold and stop programs, or build firings up to 8 segments long saved to 4 customizable programs. Use for china painting, decals, enameling, glass fusing, glass painting, glass slumping, lost wax casting, low-fire ceramics and metal clay.
The firing box measures 8" wide, 7-3/4" deep, and 5-3/4" high. A maximum of 2 kiln shelves can be fired at once. Any of the stainless steel and ceramic firing vessels we carry for carbon firing will fit this kiln.
The SC2 plugs into a standard 110V household outlet (3-prong) and draws 1440 watts, which is less energy than most hair dryers (a typical hair dryer, set on high heat, will use about 1500 watts).
Order your SC2 in traditional Paragon Blue, or have fun with our custom color options. Be sure to add a kiln furniture kit that includes the essentials you'll need for metal clay firing.
Power Consumption
The SC2 plugs into a 3-prong household outlet and draws 1440 watts. Hourly cost to operate on average: 15 cents.
Kiln Location
Place the SC2 on a counter top or table without worry; the surface will not heat during firing thanks to the elevated firing box. Double-walled construction keeps the outside case cool, even at extended firing times.
Maintenance
Your kiln will give you years of trouble-free service as long as you are good to it. Keep the inside clean, don't gouge the fiber walls, don't fire directly on the floor, etc. The Paragon SC2 kiln has a ceramic fiber interior with the heating elements embedded and protected within the shell. The heating elements have a lifespan that is use-dependent, and for most people, will last for years. When it is time to replace the heating elements, the ceramic fiber shell, called a muffle, is replaced. Warranty
The kiln is warrantied to be free of defects in workmanship for a period of 1 year from date of shipment. Manufacturer will repair or replace any parts that become defective under normal and proper use during the specified period.

A Proven Design
The SC-2 has been in production since 1997. It is a proven design that we have steadily refined every year. Thousands of artists in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Japan love their SC-2. The SC-2 is popular in art centers, colleges, craft classes, and even engineering laboratories. The high-tech ceramic fiber firing chamber is wrapped in a steel inner case. The outer steel case remains cool due to the layer of air between it and the inner case. In addition, the case is slotted for air circulation. Electrical components, located in the base, stay cool even at extended hold times.
Large Yet Portable
The SC-2 can hold three shelves of silver clay yet is portable enough to take with you to classes. Program the firing schedule that is perfect for your projects. You are not stuck with preset programs. The programmer turns itself off after the firing is completed. (Please note, however, that you should be near the kiln at the expected shutoff time.) The SC-2 is great in classrooms because the elements are embedded in ceramic fiber.
Even Heat Distribution
The newest SC-2 has two separate heating elements in the left and right sides of the firing chamber. The back of the chamber has no element. Extensive testing shows that the heat distribution in the current SC-2 is more even throughout the firing chamber, because heat does not build up in the back of the kiln.
Affordable, Easy to Program
The SC-2, for a digital kiln, is surprisingly affordable and proudly made in the U.S.A. to exacting standards. It fires automatically at the rate and temperature you enter. A large, brightly lit display prompts for firing rate, temperature, and hold time. Use the hold feature to automatically soak any type of clay silver to its recommended time. The fast-firing element is embedded in the firing chamber shell. Each SC-2 includes a 1/4” thick ceramic fiber shelf.
