Adjustable Mold Box

Designed by Clément Marquaire · Made in the USA
Cool Tools Adjustable Mold Box

Making your own mold is how a found object, an original design, or a one-off component becomes something you can reproduce. It's the process behind our Learning Center tutorial on two-part molds with Mold Star 30, and the container is where it gets awkward. A fixed-size frame either has you pouring more silicone than the piece needs or forces the piece to fit the frame. We made the Adjustable Mold Box so one box could reconfigure to whatever you're molding.

It's built from interlocking, repositionable pieces: arrange them around your object, and you get a mold exactly the size you need. Sizing the box to the piece means less excess molding material, while still leaving enough room around the object for a strong, usable mold. The design is leak proof and made for use with Mold Star 30.

There's also a built-in cutter along the bottom edge. If you're using polymer clay as a base to hold your object, press the box straight into the clay to cut it to the exact size of your mold area.

Pam East Bail Templates

Narrow & Wide · Designed by Pam East · Made in the USA

Pam East is an Art Clay Master Instructor and an internationally known artist, writer, and teacher. Her work and articles have appeared in Art Jewelry Magazine and Metal Clay Artist Magazine, among others, and in 2024 she received the Lis-el Crowley Vision Award. She also builds her own line of metal clay and enameling tools, and Cool Tools carries the entire Pam East line exclusively.

Her templates grew out of her own need for specific, repeatable, scalable designs, and a bail is exactly where that matters: a small part that has to match, again and again, across a whole line of pieces. Traditional bail templates simply reduce every dimension as the bails get smaller. Pam's keep the bail length consistent and vary only the width, so you can form small, delicate bails around a practical size mandrel and still get an opening large enough for most chains and chain terminals.

Pick by pendant shape. Narrow Bails are for elongated, vertically oriented pendants (long, oval, teardrop) where a narrower attachment point looks balanced. Wide Bails are for square, round, and broad pendants, where a wider attachment helps the piece hang straight.

Who is Pam East?

What's the difference between the Narrow and Wide Bails templates?

Narrow Bails suit elongated, vertically oriented pendants such as long, oval, and teardrop shapes. Wide Bails suit square, round, and broad pendants, where a wider attachment helps them hang straight. Both keep bail length consistent and vary the width.

Hone & Highlight Tumbling Media

Rosy Revolver · Original & Mini · 1 lb · Made in the USA
Tumbling Media - Hone & Highlight™

Sanding, refining, and polishing by hand eats hours. Hone & Highlight is tumbling media that lets your rotary tumbler do that work: add it to the tumbler with water and a small amount of dish soap, and let it refine your pieces while you start the next one. It's silicon carbide abrasive in a long-lasting ceramic binder, engineered for jewelry-scale work, and the payoff is repeatability: the same finish across a whole collection, which is hard to match piece to piece by hand.

Hone & Highlight comes from Jessica Jordan Coté, the metalsmith behind Rosy Revolver. She has been smithing full time since 2008, makes her own jewelry, and teaches metalsmithing. She had the media manufactured to custom specifications for art jewelry because studio metalsmiths needed a finishing method that saved time and wasn't hard on the hands, including for artists working with conditions like carpal tunnel or arthritis. In 2018 she bought two thousand pounds of it on a working capital loan and stored it at home while she built the business around it. By 2024 she had sold nearly seven thousand pounds direct to other makers.

It comes in two formulas. Original is larger and moderately abrasive, leaving nonferrous metals with a smooth, buttery matte finish, and it suits general finishing, larger surfaces, and heavier pieces. Mini is smaller and lighter with a finer abrasive that reaches recesses, intricate details, and tight spaces, leaving a slightly more refined satin finish with a soft sheen. It's the one for delicate chains, intricate designs, and high karat gold. You can also mix the two, so Original does the refining while Mini reaches into the details.

Quick answers

Who makes Hone & Highlight tumbling media?

Jessica Jordan Coté, a metalsmith and jewelry designer who founded Rosy Revolver and has been smithing full time since 2008. She created Hone & Highlight as a finishing method for art jewelry that saves time and is easier on the hands than sanding and polishing everything manually.

What's the difference between Original and Mini Hone & Highlight?

Original is a larger, moderately abrasive media that leaves nonferrous metals with a smooth matte finish and suits general finishing and heavier pieces. Mini is smaller with a finer abrasive that reaches deeper recesses and leaves a satin finish, and it suits delicate chains, intricate designs, and high karat gold. They can be mixed.

Does Hone & Highlight replace hand polishing?

It reduces it. The media is designed to cut the hours spent sanding, refining, and polishing by hand by letting a rotary tumbler do the work, and it gives repeatable results across pieces.

Mini Silicone Jewelry Molds

12 designs · Ocean & Garden

Twelve tiny designs in two themes. The Ocean set covers Seashells, Sea Turtles, Starfish, Saltwater Fish, Manta Rays & Whales, Coral, Jellyfish, and Seaweed. The Garden set has Tulips, Single Roses, a Rose Bouquet, and Butterflies.

The molds are flexible and easy to demold, which matters when a design is this small and there's very little clay holding it together. They're made of durable silicone, so you can use each one again and again, and they work with any soft clay or resin. Because the designs are tiny, they're a natural fit for charms, earring components, and small accents.

Quick answers

How many Mini Silicone Jewelry Molds are there?

Twelve designs: eight ocean designs (Seashells, Sea Turtles, Starfish, Saltwater Fish, Manta Rays & Whales, Coral, Jellyfish, and Seaweed) and four garden designs (Tulips, Single Roses, Rose Bouquet, and Butterflies).

What can I use the Mini Silicone Jewelry Molds with?

Any soft clay or resin. The silicone is flexible and easy to demold, and each mold can be used many times.
