Flexi-Carve also makes a fantastic cutting surface. Use needle tools without scratching or cutting into the surface. Flexi-Carve is firmer than traditional carving blocks, so sharp tools are needed. Designs can be drawn on with pencil, pen, or carved freehand. Combine with our Clayboard Turntable Work Surface for carving curves and details easily. Deep is 3.2mm thick and the low profile is 1.2mm thick.

"Too soft, with the upper and bottom layer very slick ( I will call it the skin) which makes it difficult to carve. I tried various tools and it was the same with all. I could not make small cuts and the skin stopped me from being to end a cut. It is unlike anything any of the wonderful texture tiles etc. they sell. A waste of my money."

"These carving sheets are smooth and leave a sharp impression. They require very sharp tools to cut it and the carving takes some practice. You can use both sides of the thick sheets."

"I have done a few block etchings and was hoping these carving plates would work in a similar manner. I generally use graphite paper to trace my design on the blocks, but the silicone carving plate is not taking the graphite tracing. I am still working on figuring out how to get my design onto them."
