For burnishing harder metals such as bronze or brass. This pen-style scratch brush has retractable bristles to give you a range of firmness in a compact size. Extend the bristles to get into those impossible places and to get a true scratch finish. Set the bristles short to get a uniform medium satin finish. Can also be used to clean files. Colors may vary.

"Ti scratch off unwanted color or after firing metal clay, this little brush is the perfect tool. I have already ordered a replacement for it."

"It does what it's supposed to. It gets in the small spaces that normal brushes don't. The only problem is that when the bristles start to bend, the tip doesn't seem to want to screw back into the brush. But overall, I would definitely order again just for the small jobs."

"I love a stainless steel brush for several reasons: it can be used to add a brushed finish to unfired metal clay; it's good for starting the polishing process or giving the piece a final satin finish. With the adjustable bristles, it easily reaches into the smallest crevices. It also won't leave a gold patina on your item, which might happen over time after using a brass brush."

"Scratch brushes are difficult to find. This is a very nice one with a retractable and replaceable tip. It's a very dense brush that leaves a very fine texture. Although this isn't a slight against this brush, I would like to see Cool Tools carry a series of less dense brushes that would create a coarser texture."

"love the way you can reach into the detail for polishing, and twists right back in the case for clean storage!"
