In this video, Pam East demonstrates how to create a dimensional frame and bail pendant using metal clay loaded into an empty syringe. Rather than using a preloaded syringe, Pam explains why she prefers to load her own clay, allowing her to control the firmness so the extruded forms can be lifted, shaped, and assembled without losing structure.
After firing, Pam takes the piece to the next level with surface enhancement. She prepares the metal using PreNamel, creating the ideal surface for acrylic inks to adhere smoothly. Then she applies rich, layered color with acrylic inks using an ombré shading technique. The deep, recessed texture of the design naturally holds the ink, emphasizing contrast and adding dramatic visual depth.
