Traditionally, creating bowls in metal clay meant rolling out a slab and draping it over a form - often resulting in overlapping seams, weak points, and frustrating cracks during firing. On top of that, the clay begins drying immediately, limiting your ability to refine or decorate the piece while it’s still workable.
Clément Marquaire reimagined the process by designing and producing The Bowl Maker.
This innovative tool lets you form a perfectly shaped bowl in one smooth motion without seams, cracks and a rushed drying time. The result is a strong, uniform piece of fresh clay that’s ready for detailing the moment it comes out of the mold.
Each set includes three precision components - a mold, sphere, and pusher, that work together to evenly raise the clay into shape. Simply place your clay, assemble the tool, and use the screws to press the clay upward into the mold. Once formed, disassemble to reveal a flawless bowl, ready to customize, texture, or leave beautifully simple.
In this video, Clément demonstrates how to use the bowl maker step-by-step, along with two simple ways to add custom texture - using a ball stylus and a texture tile. He also shows how to create and attach a foot, giving you complete start to finish instruction.
