How to use:
Mix gold painting powder for silver with included solution, until a consistency similar to thin acrylic paint has been achieved.

Paint onto a freshly fired piece of fine silver metal clay. If applying to sterling silver, it will need to be depletion gilded first. If applying to a standard silver piece that is already polished, reheat the piece using a torch or kiln. For fine silver that is not freshly fired, heat with a torch for 1 - 2 minutes or fire in a kiln at 1650°F for 10 minutes.

Two coats of application is recommended.

Allow the paint to completely dry before firing. The dried paint is lighter in color than the wet paint, and can be used as an indicator that the applied gold paint is ready to be fired. Fire with a torch for 1 – 2 minutes, or in a kiln at 1470°F for 10 minutes.

Once the piece has cooled, burnish the applied gold with a burnisher to bring out the gold shine.

Any remaining gold painting powder that has been mixed with the solution can be left to dry out, scraped back into the jar and saved for future use. Alternately, if the gold painting powder was mixed on a designated pallet or cup that can be covered to keep contaminants out, you can leave it to dry and simply re-add solution.

Gold Painting Powder vs Gold Plating?

Gold painting powder results in a thicker application, more similar to gold-filled than gold plated. Your design may inform your decision on which to use. For example, it's a bit easier to apply the painting powder precisely if you were wanting the gold only on specific areas. An electroplating bath would plate the entire piece in gold, unless areas are masked off. If you are looking for gold on the entire piece, gold plating is a better option.

LOVE

"I've tried many different gold accent products, and this one is BY FAR the best one. It's easy to apply, stays on and it's smooth - it's not grainy"

Excellent product for applying gold on silver

A new product for me!

"This gold powder paint for silver was a lot of fun to use! I was thankful for the demonstration video that you shared and I could watch before attempting to use it myself. I love that you are able to get gold onto uniquely shaped and awkwardly positioned areas of a piece with this paint. I look forward to creating more with it!"

Q&A

Do you have any tips on getting a drop from the solvent bottle? I had to take the plastic top off and use a tiny spatula.
Hi Barbara, I would recommend adding a little distilled water to the bottle and shaking it. This will help loosen it up a bit. I hope this helps!
Do you sell the paint brush used in the “ Gold painting on silver “ video Thx
Hi Nora, yes we do! It's these brushes: https://cooltools.us/collections/intro-to-24k-gold-painting-powder-for-silver-add-real-gold-accents-to-silver/products/fine-tip-brush-set-4 Hope this helps!
I am wanting to use this instead of gold foil for keum boo on sterling silver. Will this work if I depletion gild the sterling first?
Hi Nancy, absolutely! This gold can be applied to sterling silver, it just needs to be depletion gilded first as you said. :)
I have a small piece of 22kt PMC gold clay I bought several years ago. I believe it is dried out. Could I grind it into a powder and mix with this solution to paint on fine silver clay pieces?
Hi Kathleen, we have not tested this so cannot say for certain. You could try, but the guess from us would be that it would not work as the 22K gold you have is clay, and not gold powder. It would not attach to the silver properly. Hope this helps.
Approximately how long does it take the gold to dry prior to torch firing?
Hi Jen, it depends on how thick the applied coat is and the environmental conditions in which it was applied but it should dry within 10 minutes or so. Look for the color to be a lighter gold than it was when it was applied to indicate that it is dry. Hope this helps!
