Hadar's Clay - One-Fire Copper

Kiln Fire (Muffle Type): 1100°F / 593°C - 2 hours
Shrinkage - 25-30%

One-fire Copper is high-fire clay, suitable for both beginners and experienced users of metal clay. This variety of Hadar's Clay is fired in one phase only, both on its own and in combination with Champagne and Dark Champagne Bronze, and Low-Shrinkage Steel XT.

The powder is already mixed with a binder and all you have to do is add water. The advantages over pre-mixed clay are that you won't have to worry about shelf life, and that you can easily bring the clay to the desired consistency. Since it contains no preservatives, the clay is very forgiving, soft, pliable, and sticks well to itself. It mixes quickly, with no mess.

Worst clay I have worked with!

"Holy cats! I was really looking forward to this copper powder as it has such high reviews but I was very let down. This clay sticks to everything but itself. Useful for pressing into molds only. You cannot sculpt anything because it dries out so fast it’s unbelievable. I had to stop what I was doing every 3-5 minutes to rehydrate the clay and even then I scrapped everything I was working on and just pressed it into molds. A good percentage of the clay is wasted by it sticking to my fingers or gloves. I couldn’t even make a single bail! By the time the bail was rolled, the clay was fracturing because it was so dry. I followed Hadar’s instructions to the letter from her YouTube channel. Also “one fire” is misleading because you have to change temperatures and use multiple segments depending on the kiln you have. “One fire” assumes you have a single temperature and a single firing segment. This clay needs at least 4 hours in the kiln at two different holding temperatures. The pieces also warped as they were drying which I have never had an issue with before with any other copper clay brand or copper clay I made myself. I don’t know if the container I received was very old and perhaps the ingredients were no longer active but truly, this has been the worst and most frustrating experience with precious metal clay that I have ever had."
