This is the kit for Karen's Workshop: Advanced Stone Setting in Metal Clay at Sinter 2026.

The aim of this workshop is to provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to build advanced settings for fire-in-place stones in metal clay. How to build settings for round and oval, asscher and radiant, marquee and pear shaped stones will be covered in this two-day workshop.

This class also aims to demonstrate how small components such as the learned settings can be securely assembled alongside other elements to create rings. This workshop will culminate in you creating a ring using your favorite stone setting and other elements of your choice.

Techniques Covered:

  • You will learn the technical skills to create secure and beautiful prong-style settings for fire in place stones in metal clay
  • How to create tube settings for small accent stones
  • Working with metal clay while in the greenware state
  • How to successfully incorporate your settings into a ring/ ring making and sizing will be covered
