UltraLite Beehive Kiln & Accessories - Mini Kiln

We do not recommend firing dimensional metal clay pieces in this kiln.

This compact, mini kiln is a great beginner kiln for those not interested in investing in a table top kiln quite yet. It will fire silver metal clay, over glaze enamels and is good for metal annealing and heat treating. The UltraLite is also popular with jewelers worldwide for working with granulation, keum-boo and fusing small glass.

The UltraLite Beehive Studio Pro Kiln will fire FS999™ Fine Silver Clay, Phoenix Torch Fireable Clay™ and Art Clay Silver. This kiln is not recommended for sterling silver clays.

For firing metal clay, the ceramic inserts are required. For enameling, the protective mica disc is highly recommended to protect the heating element from damage. These are sold separately (Available in the dropdown).

The UltraLite Beehive Studio Pro Kiln Features:

  • 3.5” Element creates a larger heat sink and firing surface (1.5" high chamber)
  • Compact size of 6" Tall x 6.25" Round
  • Weighs less than 2 pounds
  • 1,600°F (871°C) with the lid in place and 1,150°F (621°C) with the lid off
  • 6’ Removable Cord-Set
  • High Temperature Hot Pad
  • All of the accessories for the UltraLite (discontinued) model are interchangeable with the Studio Pro model
  • This kiln costs less than .02 cents per firing to operate

The UltraLite Beehive Kiln cannot fire base metal clays. The Keum Boo brass covers will allow you to use this kiln to add pure gold leaf to your metal clay and other jewelry creations. The UltraLite Studio kiln can also fire Accent Silver with the flat cover in place. Please note: The flat cover should only be used for 3 - 5 minutes at a time.

Spatula and standard cover included. All other accessories are not included.

Note: The controller is no longer available for this kiln. Firing can be successfully done without the controller.

Ultra lite beehive kiln

"Perfect kiln for my purposes which are making earrings, pendants and charms. I’m also using it to anneal my copper wire. I would highly recommend it for small pieces."

"the kiln was just what i needed, I am starting to use PMC to create small leaf jewelry and this kiln is just the right size for my basement shop."

Beehive kiln to the rescue

"I have been in the market for a small kiln for PMC and was having a hard time deciding what kiln to get due to space issues when I finally decided the beehive kiln was the one for me. I am able to use it for Keumbo and enameling also which made it the perfect starter kiln. The price point was also a bonus! I have done numerous PMC plus firings in it and have been extremely happy with the results. I purchased the temperature gauge as well which I highly recommend especially if you are firing silver with stones."

Good for small enamels

"I use this for enameling on copper. It works well. I have to allow time between firings for it the temperature to come back up. The kiln isn't large so the largest pieces I can fit are 1.5" discs. If I had to say something negative, it can be hard to see the piece inside. After some trial pieces, I've learned to use a timer. Overall, a really nice kiln for small projects."

Wow!

"I followed the instructions to prep my kiln and fired several pieces last night. All of my pieces sintered perfectly! I am totally stoke to have this tiny kiln, which will travel with me as I cross the nation on my nomadic adventure. Oh, and I could fit two pendants and four pairs of earrings in the kiln for this firing! Just so, so happy with this kiln!"

Conflicting Instructions

"I purchased the Beehive Kiln with a 120V controller for firing silver metal clay. it is easy to use and produces a better sintered piece than torch firing. However there are a lot of different?and sometimes conflicting?instructions out there, and even following the instructions directly from the manufacturer resulted in several grams of melted silver before I was able to use the kiln successfully. Note that the kiln does not come with ceramic inserts for firing metal clay as stated in the Cool Tools instructional video."
