Needs better dimensions and it warped really bad when priming the carbon, but still a good deal for the carbon

"I needed a larger firing pan that would fit in my kiln, and since it comes with carbon it's a great deal. I fired it and the carbon following the directions to prime the carbon and while I read that there would be some flaking, nearly the entire outside has flaked off a layer of spalling and I'm not sure if there's supposed to be *that* much... the bottom of the pan has warped pretty bad as well. I wish it were a bit taller with a smaller diameter, like 4" around and 2" high; it just barely fits in my kiln and I think one side is touching one of the walls, but it doesn't touch the coils or thermocouple so it's not going to damage it far as I can tell, but to be on the safe side I haven't fired it since till I make sure it'll be alright. The 5" diameter also made it quite a feat for me to get it open after firing since I've got tiny hands."

burned up

"It did sinter the jewelry pieces but the bottom burned up in the trinket kiln. so it was a one use tin. Carbon in reusable but not the tin"

Call Me Stupid.....

"OK - I should have waited until Cool Tools staff called me back. Call Me Stupid but I assumed that you could fire your piece IN the tin container which housed the carbon. No, the container "melted" in the kiln. My ring is fine -the stone turned out perfect! So long story short - use the carbon for stones that cannot be fired for 2 hours at 1650 - do not use the tin container to hold your piece."

Hard to open after firing

"After firing I could not remove the lid. Girpping firmly and prying up the lid caused the metal rim of the lid to break."

Good; needs to be slightly taller

"The container comes PACKED to the brim with carbon, as it is only 1", so have to remove some carbon to place object inside for the lid to close, which reduces the depth of the carbon you need. May not meet minimum depth requirements for your item. Just another 1/2" to 1" deeper would be perfect, even without more carbon."
