Product Tips

To use the template on polymer, metal or ceramic clay, place a plain or textured slab on a Tuff Card or other work surface. You can safely rest your fingers on the template to hold it in place. Cut out the shape with our Ultra Clay Pick or a very fine needle tool. Start at the outside corners and cut to the inside corners for the cleanest cuts. Remove the template and lift away the excess clay.

For use on sheet metal, use a Scotchbrite pad to give the surface a soft satin finish, then use a scribe to scratch the shape onto metal. China white can also be used to paint on a white surface, or another method is to cover the metal surface with a label, then trace the shape with a sharpie. It's easier to see it this way and helps with more accurate cutting.

Templates

"All of the Cool tool templates really do the trick. I use them with students and my own work. I'm using these particular templates to make silver metal clay shapes to use with my leather jewelry. They were the perfect shapes for what I needed to make flowers and chevrons like I was making in leather. The blue color of all the templates are very useful because they are still clear, but less likely to be lost like some of the clear templates. The size is perfect to store in a notebook with photo pages, making them easy to carry to classes."
