Make with Metal Clay: Set Stone Ring

This kit is for Karen Trexler's workshop located at the Depot Hill Creative on May 30th.

Learn the basics of creating with metal clay while making your own set stone ring in this three hour workshop.

In this beginner friendly class, you will learn how to construct a metal clay band for a ring, including how to consider shrink rates when sizing your ring (metal clay shrinks when it fires!).  You will also learn a method for setting a stone to be fired in place, additive construction, as well as how to refine your pieces to get a high shine polish on finished rings.

Attendees will create a sterling silver ring that features a set stone focal point and a band of their own design. We will be working with a sterling silver alloy (because sterling silver is stronger than fine silver and for rings additional strength preferred) so the rings will be fired in a kiln at the conclusion of the class and are available for pick up.
