Designed by Karen Trexler, Cool Tools Setting Molds are silicone molds designed to create perfect settings for faceted stones. Each mold is designed for one faceted stone shape, and will allow users to create two different styles of settings for three sizes of stones in that shape. Simply press clay into the low areas of the molds and scrape away extra clay to make perfect bezel or prong style settings for stones. If you are creating a prong style setting, in addition to the edges of these molds having embellished sides that allude to a prong setting, the mold is designed to produce four elements to be placed on top of the setting and slightly over the stone, to give the look of a prong bent over the stone. No release agent is needed with these molds. Use with metal clay or polymer clay.
Note: Due to the style of the setting produced by this mold, working with clays that have a shrinkage rate of 20% or less is recommended.
Setting dimensions: 3mm, 4mm, and 5mm

"Size too small for the same gem size. Clay sticks to bottom of mold making it hard to get out on one piece"

"Great for us newbies"

"I like the way the molds make it easier to do some basic settings in metal clay. I have some made earlier from another company and these are easier to use. Having said that, I wish they were made in CLEAR silicone, just a bit heavier, so you could see if your clay filled the mold entirely. I have to do seconds on a few of them for one little area that wasn’t quite filled, which means doing them twice. I would also like to see larger sizes in the rounds and ovals. Overall, good product!"
