Gold plating pen for your jewelry projects.
Perform gold plating easily and cost efficiently with this pen plater. Disposable, battery operated pen is good for 1 full hour of plating time. Depending upon size, this equates to 20 to 40 pieces of jewelry. Simply attach the alligator clip to your piece, dip the pen tip in the gold plating solution (sold separately), and apply real 24 karat gold by touching the pen to your jewelry wherever you would like the item to be gold plated. Inexpensive replacement pen tips available. Pen comes with one pen tip.
Made in the US
This product is most effective on fine silver. We have tested this pen on .960 sterling silver which resulted in a rich brass/bronze look. For a true gold color, use on .999 fine silver.
Do not attempt to replace the batteries as this product is disposable and will not work if taken apart.

"I watched Ms. Bealle's video. However there is a dearth of info to help with this product or understand why it might not be working, the video from the manufacturer literally just shows how to open the package and insert a tip. I spent an hour trying to put this on an FS999 piece, burnished with steel wire but no sanding post firing. I went through three tips (I noticed the sharper tips like came with it are FAR better than the blunt tips that seem to do almost nothing, even when soaked a long time). It's very spotty, seemingly taking in some places and not others. You may need a very smooth highly polished surface which I'm not working with (matte). It also seems to disappear right before your eyes, I would see the gold plating as I was putting it on only to watch it fade as it dries almost back to silver. And it seems to keep fading, I don't know if perhaps it gets absorbed into the silver, but something strange happens with it. After an hour I accomplished a faint uneven hue of gold on the size of a nickel. I can pass it off as a "faded antique piece". I checked the voltage with my multi-meter as I've had the pen a while and maybe the battery was dead but it shows 6+ volts which is where it's advertised to be. I see Ms. Bealle mentions the solution may become "weak", I'm not sure how that happens as you do not dilute it with anything but that is next to try to be more generous with the solution. Keum boo would have been FAR faster and more effective with a much prettier gold than this faint hue. The problem with Keum boo is that you can't do all the details very easily with it but if the part you want to cover with gold is a geometric shape, like a circle, that you can cut out, then it's going to be far superior to whatever this is supposed to be. My guess is the voltage is possibly too low being a low end product. I don't like that it's disposable for $60. So I may look to a more professional product that's rechargeable or runs from a DC power station. A prior piece of mine turn green with this product. It was also FS999. I surmise that I somehow contaminated it with sterling either in green ware stage or finishing. I've been more careful. But it is nerve wracking taking the plunge with the pen and hoping your piece is not immediately ruined with a permanent green blotch. I can see this being useful to touch up a piece but putting the gold on in the first place does not seem to work."

"I bought 24K Gold Plating Solution, Wizard Disposable 24K Gold Pen Plater and the replacement tips. I watched the video and followed the instructions carefully. Although the plating seemed to have worked as expected, the resulting gold layer turned out to be not durable at all. It basically got scratched when buffed gently with a soft paper towel and came off completely with a single swipe of sunshine cloth. I understand that it is a thin layer and should be treated gently, but this is not an acceptable quality of a product. The customer service has not been helpful so far."
